PCD Bearings

Polycrystalline Diamond bearings also called PCD bearings,they have three type structure: thrust bearings, radial bearings, and combined bearings. In scurviness and complex outdoor environments, PCD bearings must be used for the combination of abrasive liquids and mixed phase fluids. In the moment, PCD bearings have been widely used in rotary steerable systems, turbodrills, mud motors, electric submersible pumps, and oilfield operations. PCD bearings have the characteristics of high hardness, high wear resistance, high corrosion resistance, and longer service life. Due to their high wear resistance, PCD bearings can operate at high temperatures (currently the highest temperature is 233°C) and can withstand large axial loads. PCD material has a small friction coefficient and is not affected by natural or mud chemicals present in drilling. Each pair of PCD thrust bearings consists of an upper ring and a lower ring, and each bearing ring is divided into two parts: a carbide ring and a PCD composite sheet. During operation, the PCD surfaces on these rings rub against each other, but due to the high hardness and low friction coefficient of the PCD material, this friction is very low, thereby improving the wear resistance and service life of the bearing. The service life of PCD bearings ranges from 1,000 hours to many years, depending on the application. This series of bearings are customized bearings.
